Having quit my nice finance job in Singapore on Boxing Day 2008, I peered into my bank account and thought, “hmm, I can live off this for a while. Where can I go that’s cheap?” That thought led me to Uganda in February 2009, and subsequently Kenya in April, on a personal fact-finding mission and one-woman bank emptying expedition. Returning in August, wallet leaner and mind full of ideas, I enrolled in the London School of Economics, to read an MSc in Media, Communications and Development. Now that’s done, I’m freshly unemployed all over again.
